Is there any effective way to scavenge computers to mine for you, or get people to join a mining pool? I by myself mine 160Mh/s, on my laptop, and figure if I got a dozen or so more workers, it could really turn out profit for me.

* I meant mbtc... though a quick 1k btc would be nice, too.

I take it the offer is still open for 1bitcoin after 10 posts? Just out of curiosity, how did you get so many bitcoins? Were you one of the early miners?

How great! I'll use up a post just stating that. And maybe that there are already 885 members, which means that 115 more and it's done.

All those sites keep telling me I have reached my limit already but I haven't yet received anything. Maybe I should've turned off the VPN service first.

What kind of debt are we talking about? :P Maybe I'll be willing to invest my 1btc from here if you pay me back 1.1? :D Speaking of, could I get that? I'm well past 10 long ago :)

Your link doesn't work.

I use https://www.virwox.com, works fine, is fast, and is, even if you have to pay a fee for every order, profitable if you know what to look for (see post #5 'https://ogrr.com/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=1268').

I would say that http://coinworker.com is by far the best way to go about earing bitcoin. It is one of the few services through which you can both earn bitcoin and accomplish something simultaneously.

The second best place to acquire bitcoin is probably http://freedigitalmoney.com. (If you somehow don't have a bitcoin address to enter, you can click here to see what the offers are like.) They essentially pay you to subject yourself to advertising or register for web services. You certainly don't have to spend any money to earn bitcoin in this way; just be very careful with whom you trust your personal information: some of the websites are rather unscrupulous. You might find a disposable email service like http://mailinator.com or http://guerrillamail.com useful.

There is an extremely wide assortment of bitcoin gambling opportunities and pyramid schemes, but you should keep in mind that you are essentially giving your money away (and if you want to do that, I'd be happy to take it: http://bitcoinpyramid.com/r/1214). The only opportunity I've found to get something for nothing is http://sealswithclubs.com, which offers an hourly free tournament with a 0.05 BTC prize. (Note that the minimum withdrawal is 0.1 BTC.)

If you want to spend your own money on bitcoins, the most convenient method is most likely to simply buy a GPU with a high Mhash/J ratio (consult https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_hardware_comparison). Bear in mind, though, that the cost in dollars will likely exceed the worth of the bitcoins you acquire by a large margin. The chief advantage of this method is simply that you need not fool around with financial services of any sort. Additionally, you will get your bitcoins over time, which makes things a bit more exciting.

Is there an extra step involved in getting credited or is it usually automatic? :)

For Aussies, spendbitcoins.com is the easiest - just deposit cash at the tellers and get your coins 1 hour later.

Alright, absolute best way for US residents to buy Bitcoin, here it is:

1) Create MtGox.com account
2) In your account, click on "Funding Options"
3) Under "Choose a Funding Method" click on "Cash Deposit via BitInstant"
4) Scroll down and enter the amount of cash you'll deposit
5) You'll then be taken to TrustCash's page, where you select a major bank location near you (you don't need an account at the bank)
6) Follow the steps, print out the receipt, and go to the bank with your cash.
7) Deposit the cash into the account number on your receipt

And bam! Within 30-60 minutes, your funds will be in MtGox. Seriously - it can happen before you even get home from the bank. Then, just buy Bitcoins at the current market price and you're good to go.
US only for now, but other countries on the way.
